FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is JobsHive ?
JobsHive is an electronic marketplace where Candidates and Employers can
contact each other directly about potential Jobs, both permanent and contract.
We know that Employers/Clients dislike being pestered by agencies, or paying
their exorbitant fees.
We also know that many Candidates/Contractors resent having a large proportion
of their income siphoned off by agencies for a few minutes work, or are simply
unable to find agencies that understand IR35 and its implications.

Why set up JobsHive ?
1. Services
2. Skills.
3. Products.
JobsHive uses several Javelin Software products to produce this website.
95% of this site was generated with our JGenerator tool.
Not only is this a concrete proof of concept, but also provides a real service
to the community.
This entire website took 1 person ONLY 4 weeks to realise from initial
conception! Most of the business functionality is defined in a JGenerator
project file, here for your perusal. Don't worry
if you don't understand it, we are simply showing how powerful and expressive
JGenerator can be.

What will JobsHive cost Employers ?
JobsHive is ALSO totally FREE for Employers: whilst we can afford the development
time and bandwidth charges. If we do eventually charge it will be at most
2-4%, or 1-2 weeks income.
A lot less than the 15-20% charged by most agencies.

How does JobsHive work for Candidates ?
Candidates must register and enter their contact details and CV separately.
This is done to protect Candidates, from unwanted advances from rogue Agencies
or Employers. We will run scheduled computerised checks to ensure this.
Candidates can then say what sort of jobs they are looking for, where and
for how much: this will allow Employers to search for them.
Candidates can also search for adverts placed by Employers, and request
that contact is made.
You are given a link to your uploaded CV that you can email to others if
you don't have a website of your own.
This link is automatically revealed if you contact an employer.
How does JobsHive work for Employers ?
An Employer can register themselves and enter their contact details.
The Employer can then place Job Adverts, ensuring there are no contact details
in them.
This is done to protect the Employers, from unwanted advances from rogue
Agencies or Candidates. We will run scheduled computerised checks to ensure
this.
You are given a link that can be either emailed to others, or posted on
your own website, allowing you to outsource your jobs listings to us. Certainly
a lot easier than setting up your own jobs site!
Employers can also search for Candidates and request that contact is made.
How do People contact each other ?
The initial contact between Candidates and Employers is through JobsHive,
this will take the form of sending an email. Once this has happened the Candidate
and Employer are free to contact each other directly.
Candidates can also choose to be part of the candidate community, which
allows other candidates to contact them, and vice versa.
How do we know you didn't cheat on us ?
We oblige employers to inform us that a candidate has gained a job through
JobsHive. This is for us to monitor how successful we are, and whether the
site should continue operating. Equally as a condition of service we ask the
candidate to inform us if they have found employment through JobsHive.
Can Agencies use JobsHive ?
No. It is a condition of use that neither the Employer or Candidate is,
works for, or represents, a job Agency.
There are hundreds of agency based employment sites on the web, where Agencies
are more than welcome.
If you find an Agency has set themselves up on JobsHive please contact us
and we will ensure they don't do it again, and enter them into the hall
of shame.
Are we Secure ?
JobsHive is hosted in RedHouse Interbus in docklands, one of the most secure
sites in the country.

Your details will not be passed on. Your details are purely for use on
JobsHive.
Contact details will not be made public except for the purpose of making
a job contact.
Who are we regulated by ?
We are regulated by the data-protection act.
IR35 checkboxes?
IR35 means that you'd like IR35 friendly contracts if at all possible,
i.e. contracts that very strongly assure that you are not an employee etc.
As opposed to a contract that marks you for death from the IR, so that
you either end up paying lot more tax to the IR, or they later come and sting
you. Which is not nice.
This is simply an indicator so that employers know what kind of things
you would like.
Vague email ?
Vague email means that emails that get sent to you don't reveal that you
are looking for a job, just in case someone else is reading your mail. With
RIP this is a possibility.
There again, you could simply setup a new mail account and use that. Up to
you.
For example, if someone wants to contact you, and you have said you want
email, and vague email at that, you'll just get an email, from yourself(!),
mysteriously ending up in your inbox. This is your cue to check JobsHive.
Community member ?
Community member simply lets you contact other community members. If you
don't check this then other candidates cannot contact you, or you them.
